Verifying links your WoW character to your Discord. Once you're verified,
Hootus hands you the right roles.
1. Join the server
You start with limited access until you verify. That's expected.
2. Start verifying
Two ways:
- Open the welcome channel and find the post with a Verify my character button. Hit it.
- Or type
/verifyin Discord. Click the message box, type/, pick verify from the menu, and enter your character name.
3. Confirm your character
If your character is on the guild roster, Hootus recognizes it and may ask a quick question to confirm it's really you. If it's not on the roster, pick your class.
Then Hootus asks Are you a raider? Answer Yes if you want to raid with us and get pinged when raids go up. That gets you the Raider role. Answer No for the Member role instead. You can flip this later with /raider.
4. Get your roles
You'll get your Member or Raider role plus your class role.
How fast that happens depends on how your officers set verification up:
- If your character is on the synced roster (the guild member list Hootus pulls from Blizzard), you're approved on the spot.
- If not, Hootus checks the armory (Blizzard's public character profile). Depending on the setup, you're either approved automatically or an officer signs off first.
Either way, you'll get a message telling you where you stand.
5. Set your pings
/notifications tagspicks which guild pings you want in channels (raids, LFG, and more)./notifications dmssets which DMs Hootus sends you./away setmarks you away for a holiday or a break. Give it a duration (2 weeks), a date (10 august), orunknownif you don't know when you're back. Add areasonand it shows on the guild away board./away backclears it,/away listshows who else is out.
While you're away you stop getting nudges, and you're marked absent on any raid inside your window. Nobody loses a role for going away.
