Retail support

Nerub-ar Palace on Tuesday. Same bot as Karazhan.

Nine raid instances across Midnight and The War Within, LFR through Mythic, each at the size that difficulty runs at. Signups know all 40 specs, the lineup fills, and 19 dungeons sit on the LFG board. Mythic+ and the Great Vault are not in, and they get a section of their own rather than a footnote.

Raid night

Pick the instance, pick the difficulty, post it.

Retail carries its own classes, specs, races, realms, Blizzard namespaces and raid content. Nothing about a retail guild is answered by looking at a Classic table and hoping.

From the post onward it is the raid night every other version already runs. Signups check the spec, the lineup fills, groups build, and the raid closes itself when it is done.

  • Nine instances, two tiers. Midnight and The War Within. Nerub-ar Palace, Liberation of Undermine and Manaforge Omega, then the six Midnight instances up to The Venomous Abyss.
  • LFR, Normal, Heroic and Mythic. Every instance at the sizes that difficulty actually runs at. Flex raids sit at 30, Mythic at 20, and the instances that want 25 or 40 get 25 or 40.
  • No pairing nobody can run. Pick Mythic and the size list narrows to what Mythic runs at. Change the difficulty and the size follows it instead of quietly staying wrong.
  • Signups that read the spec. All 40 specs, checked against the role before the click sticks. Vengeance Demon Hunter clicks tank, Hootus says yes. Augmentation Evoker clicks tank, Hootus says nice try.
  • Lineup, groups, close. The rest of the raid post is the one Karazhan already runs on. Fill the lineup, build the groups, let it lock at minus 30 and close itself after.
  • Loot and logs. Raid loot comes off the retail journal boss by boss, Warcraft Logs fights land on the right retail instance, and progression ranks by tier instead of tying everything at zero.
The class list

All 13 classes, all 40 specs.

Demon Hunter and Evoker included, so neither of them lands on your roster as Unknown. Races are the 25 Blizzard offers on a live character creation screen.

Roster and verification

The half that was already here, on retail's own namespaces.

Discord roles that match the armory, verified names instead of guessed ones, and a list of who is actually still logging in. Same hourly schedule, same officer views.

None of it was estimated. The numbers below came off one live retail guild nobody had pointed the code at before, and the class, race and realm counts behind them are pinned in the test suite so they break rather than drift.

  • Setup. Retail sits in the wizard next to Classic Era, TBC and MoP. Pick it, name your guild, pick a realm, done.
  • Realms that exist. 272 usable EU realms out of the 362 Blizzard lists, with the account and instance realms filtered out before anyone has to scroll past them.
  • Roster sync. On retail’s own Blizzard namespaces, on the same hourly schedule as every other version.
  • Verification. Members confirm a character on the armory, with the race check on roster matches and an officer queue behind it.
  • Characters and gear. Profiles, item level, equipped items and statistics, read from the live profile API rather than typed in.
  • Respecs. Retail returns the active spec on the character summary, so a respec follows on its own instead of waiting for someone to say so.
  • Member tracking. Joins, leavers, dormancy, notes, /whois and the officer views. The whole membership side never cared which version you play.

Dungeons

Keys are out. The dungeons themselves are not.

Mythic+ is a rating system Hootus does not model. The nineteen dungeons behind it are all here anyway, as groups you post to the LFG board.

A group on a board, filling itself while you finish the quest you were on, instead of five people taking turns in trade chat.

  • Nine from Midnight. Windrunner Spire, Murder Row, Magisters’ Terrace, Altar of Fangs, Den of Nalorakk, Maisara Caverns, Nexus-Point Xenas, The Blinding Vale and Voidscar Arena.
  • Ten from The War Within. Ara-Kara, Cinderbrew Meadery, City of Threads, Darkflame Cleft, Eco-Dome Al’dani, Operation: Floodgate, Priory of the Sacred Flame, The Dawnbreaker, The Rookery and The Stonevault.
  • Normal, Heroic and Mythic. Post the group, people click a role, the board keeps itself current and drops the group when it fills or expires. Same board Classic Era and MoP already post to.
What is missing

Five things this page would rather tell you now.

Finding them out on a Tuesday night would be worse. None of them is a flag somebody forgot to flip, and none of them is coming because a page said so.

  • Mythic+ is not in. Keystone levels, affixes and dungeon rating are not modelled at all, so a key week is still your own spreadsheet. That is a separate build, not a switch.
  • The Great Vault is not in. Blizzard exposes no endpoint for it, so nothing can read your picks and nothing is going to pretend it can.
  • Weekly lockout state is the same story. No endpoint, and Hootus tracks lockouts for no version at all, so retail is not being singled out here.
  • Retail PvP was pulled out of /lfg on purpose. The bracket list behind it speaks Classic battlegrounds, and an arena menu with nothing behind it is worse than no menu.
  • Nothing older than The War Within is built. A Legion transmog night has no content to pick from, so the picker will not offer you one.
Two games, one server

Running retail and Classic out of the same Discord.

Plenty of servers hold a Classic guild and a retail one and pretend they are the same roster. Hootus can tell them apart end to end: separate rosters, separate realms, separate Discord roles, one member list.

It is a beta and it is labelled as one. Turn it on in Settings, Features when you want it, and a TBC or MoP guild that adds retail keeps its Classic raids exactly where they were.

  • Up to four WoW guilds, one Discord. Link the retail guild alongside the Classic one. Each link keeps its own roster, its own realm and its own Discord role, so retail and TBC stop landing in one list.
  • Both games in one picker. Raid, dungeon and LFG lists cover every game you have linked. Narrow them per game with the raid expansions picker when a channel only wants one.
  • /verify only asks when it has to. A character name that turns up on one roster is matched. A name on two gets the question, once, and then it is answered.
  • Off until you turn it on. It is a beta switch in Settings, Features, and it is yours to flip. Leave it alone and one server means one WoW guild, exactly as before.
Retail guilds welcome

Add it for the raid night, and the roster too.

Midnight and The War Within get a raid post, signups, a lineup and a dungeon board, on top of the hourly roster sync and verified names. If your week is built on Mythic+ keys, that part is not here, and you knew that before you clicked.
